Graduate of Missouri Southern State University with a Bachelors of Science in Pre-optometry/Biology, Katelyn "K" Atkinson has gone on to pursue her second undergraduate degree at the University of Idaho. Here, she excels as a junior cybersecurity student and CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service participant. A cadet in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Kay was recently accepted into the United States Space Force as her university's singular Space Force cadet.
While her first passion was biology, she now actively pursues her second and most vibrant passion for cybersecurity and space. As Squadron Commander of the student organization beneath the Space Force, called i5 Space, Kay leads Air Force cadets towards space domain awareness and education. Second-place winner of the NCAE Cybergames Challenge, Kay is also active in developing her cyber skills outside of the classroom. To reach her ultimate goal of becoming an Officer in the United States Space Force and working as a cybersecurity professional to serve her country, Kay lives by the motto: "The sky is not the limit." |
